With a tool like Dameon Tools Ultra you can take a disk image and mount it on a virtual drive. That virtual drive will be displayed by Windows Explorer just like all your other drives.
With a tool like Folder2Drive you can take a folder and map it as a virtual drive. That virtual drive will be displayed by Windows Explorer just like all your other drives.

All Windows editions from Windows XP SP3 up to Windows 8.1 and from Windows Server 2003 SP2 up to Windows Server 2012 R2 are supported. You won’t have any problems installing Folder2Drive on a PC powered by any of these Windows editions. It must be noted here that Folder2Drive’s setup wizard will offer to install an additional piece of software – Mobogenie.

Launch Folder2Drive and it displays a prompt that says “IE has been started to check for latest version.” Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will launch at startup and take you to Folder2Drive’s official webpage. I was unable to find a setting that would let me change this. It can be quite annoying to have IE open every time you launch Folder2Drive.

On its interface, Folder2Drive displays a list of drives, from A all the way to Z. It must be mentioned that the interface can be customized. Click the Settings button down in the lower right hand corner, select Set Skin, and you will be presented with a window that allows you to change the color scheme used by Folder2Drive’s interface.

Say you want to map the folder Test to the drive T. From the interface, select drive T -> right click it -> click on Map folder as virtual drive T -> locate and select the folder Test. As you can see, you can very, very easily map a drive as a virtual drive. And you can very easily undo what you did – simply right click the virtual drive and select Unmap virtual drive T.

Folder2Drive is free software. Cons:
Opens Internet Explorer every time you launch the application.
The setup wizard wants to install some additional software.

Pros

Lots of Windows editions are supported; installing Folder2Drive on a Windows PC is an effortless task. The interface can be customized. Mapping a folder as a virtual drive is a straightforward matter. Folder2Drive is freeware (consider making a donation).

Cons

ider making a donation if you like using the application. Folder2Drive makes it very, very easy to map a folder to a virtual drive. This is an easy to use and free tool that works as advertised.
